The Huia bird was an extraordinary songbird, with distinct calls between males and females. They formed lifelong pairs and sang beautiful duets, taking turns in their melodies.
The Huia faced the unfortunate consequence of the fashion industry, as avid collectors contributed to its extinction. In 1907, it was officially declared extinct, leaving us with a sense of loss.
Both Māori and Europeans highly valued and hunted the Huia. Māori considered it tapu (sacred), reserving the wearing of its skin or feathers for individuals of high status.

Now, you can own a pair of Huia Feather Earrings from my latest collection. Each pair carries a piece of history, serving as a reminder of the importance of conservation.
